Stories of the Bandon Community Youth Center

Youth Center's Tutoring Program Helps

The Bandon Community Youth Center continues to make a difference with its after-school tutoring program. Not long ago, a young girl named Victoria and her parents approached program staff Loreen Mills and Sharon Wallace seeking help with her homework. Loreen outlined the tutoring program and shared that all fourth graders that come to the Center from Oceah Crest elementary school are asked to do their homework first upon arriving at the Center as part of our effort to develop study habits early.

Recently, Victoria came into the Center beaming. She proudly showed her report card to program staff and to the Executive Director. Her progress had been remarkable. In classes where she had struggled previously, Victoria got As and Bs. She was excelling in all her classes.

The Center's tutoring program is offered daily Monday through Thursday to all 4th through 12th graders in the District.
